Question Why the censorship?

I posted a very balanced thread, presenting facts with proper source quotes and then my own opinion. I even made sure for it to be extra-polite as to not incite any verbal violence.
I was planning to reply to some of the respenses there and clarify some misunderstandings... but it is closed.

I also read that several people that replied added "thread closed" to their post.
Is that a local tradition I am not informed about?!

http://www.guildwarsguru.com/forum/s...ad.php?t=51301

Can one of the moderators please explain the reason for the closing?
Why am I being censored?

Although my own posts in there could be said to have not contributed to anything about your points you raised, and although I meant well and will not apologize except to say that your thread helped me in the game somewhat and my approach to it, I think you have nash to thank for that one.

Wait so you are telling me that the thread was locked simply because someone started posting out-of-topic? So anyone can kill any thread simply be derailing it?

For example, a criminal snatches a bag from a bus rider. The police proceeds to arrest everyone in the bus. Doesn't make sense right? Its the criminal that should have been caught and arrested. Right?

Why do you belive you are being censored?
Your post wasn't deleted...

The thread was closed because of the content and direction of the thread - not your post.

[edit] yes a derailed thread will probably be closed unless it's humoring the mods enough to stay for entertainment reasons.

[edit2]Clearly busses are dangerous things - they should be banned so people dont get their purses snatched.

I feel partly responsible because that idiot attacked your thread alongside someone else they latched their annoy radar on, and I kept yakking at em, and it degenerated your thread.

Also keep in mind that sometimes, some of the people on this site say extremely SENSIBLE things that those above do not wanna hear

Because it was addressing an important issue and a possible beginning for a debate. There were responses I wanted to reply to. There were serious replies I was expecting to hear. "Thread Closed" means none of this will be allowed to occur.

No Spamming
Your post count - no matter how impressive a high number might look - is irrelevant here. Therefore, please do not spam these forums, or such posts will be deleted. If you're unsure what is, and isn't spamming - a good general guideline is to look at what you're posting and ask yourself: "Does this add to or advance the thread in a constructive way?" If you answered 'Yes', then you're probably good to go.
My thread was indeed replied to with spam, and such spam has to be deleted according to the rules. Instead the spam was allowed to continue, no public warnings were issued and my thread, and thus the issue raised, was closed!

Here is some information about censorship:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Censorship
Quote:
Some thinkers understand censorship to include other attempts to suppress points of view... These methods, collectively, tend to work by disseminating misleading information or by preventing other ideas from obtaining a receptive audience.
De facto my idea was prevented from obtaining a receptive audience by first allowing the thread to fill with spam and then closing it completely.

Excuse me but the content of the thread is my post and any constructive / intelligent replies! Everything else is considered spam according to the forum guidlines!

But isn't derailing threads illegal on this forum in the first place? Why punish the victim and not the criminal?!

Edit: pardon the title typo, Censorship is the proper spelling.

I myself is not too pleased with how some mods close threads without explaining why or posting in it to explain why.

Not only is it lazy, its like they're cover their tracks so to speak. NOt to bad month the mods but you should really give a reason for ANY thread closing, since I see no fault in this one or the other.

Well, hearing this from you is interesting, but I would really like to see a response by a moderator, if possible the one that closed my thread.

I would like to know if this is part of an official GWGuru forum policy to employ preventative censorship against unwanted ideas and debates?

Then check during noon time, I rarely see aniewiel on here at nightime, might be a time zone diff or something.

Anytime you see a login name at the bottom on the main page that is BLACK, that means it is a mod or admin that is logged in.

For example...Sarus and BlackAce are currently logged in, but..where are they?

As is Ensign, I see...*edit*

I closed the thread. It was a festering sore on the forums that needed to be purged.

This is not an attack on the original post, no matter how you might want to see it. It was an admission that of the 21 replies that thread recieved, every single one of them was a vapid one liner, or a comment about how the other replies were all vapid one liners. Sure, you could delete *every* reply to a thread - but why leave just a single topic that had inspired no constructive whatsoever?

So that thread died, and all was right in the world. This thread is similarly closed for reasons that I'd hope are obvious. If you have a problem with my moderating, feel free to PM me directly.

Peace,
-CxE
